ATTLEBORO, Mass.-Newbury College senior libero Amy Chen (Chelmsford, Mass.) led her team to a 2-0 opening week. Newbury defeated Anna Maria and Albertus Magnus both 3-1. Chen averaged five kills per set with 40 total for the week. She tallied four kills (0.5 kills per set) and two service aces (0.25 aces per set).

Daniel Webster Chosen Preseason Favorite to Win NECC Womens Volleyball Title

ATTLEBORO, Mass. Daniel Webster College has been tabbed as the preseason favorite to capture the New England Collegiate Conference womens volleyball championship, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the NECCs head womens volleyball coaches.

In one of the most remarkable and heart-stopping finishes in Daniel Webster College and New England Collegiate Conference history across all sports spectrums, the top-seeded Eagles women's volleyball team rallied from two sets down and from a 14-9 deficit in the fifth and deciding set to stun second-seeded Newbury, 3-2 and capture their first ever conference championship before an electrified Mario Vagge Gymnasium crowd of nearly 300 Saturday afternoon.

Seven of the eight sponsored programs were represented on 2009 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Womens Volleyball All-Conference Team, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. In addition to the All-NECC honors, four separate major individual award winners and the team sportsmanship award were also voted upon and selected this week.

Cambridge, Mass. & Chicopee, Mass.-The #3 seed Lesley University Lynx defeated the #6 seed Becker College Hawks 3-0 (25-10, 25-11, 25-14) in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Quarterfinals. #4 seed Elms College Blazers won a hard fough battle 3-1 (25-21, 25-19, 18-25, 25-23) over #5 seed Mitchell College Mariners in the quarterfinal round of the 2009 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) womens volleyball tournament at Picknelly Arena. The Lynx and the Blazers advanced to the semifinals which will be played this weekend at Daniel Webster.
