NECC Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week-September 16

Player of the Week

 

Ruth Aguilar (So., S), Eastern Nazarene College

Sophomore Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) racked up 43 kills as Eastern Nazarene posted four wins on the week. Aguilar notched 23 kills and 16 digs as the Lions erased a 0-2 deficit to knock off previously unbeaten Plymouth State, 3-2. She tallied a pair of kills and eight digs in only one set of action in Eastern Nazarene’s straight-set victory over Fisher. Aguilar capped the week with 18 kills and 12 digs in the Lions’ 3-0 win over Nichols.    

 

Rookie of the Week

 

Shirita Wimberly (Fr., OH), New England College  

Freshman Shirita Wimberly (Waipahu, Hawaii) averaged 2.75 kills and 4.50 digs per set in a two-match week for the Pilgrims. The rookie posted a double-double in a close five-set match at Regis, tallying 16 kills and 21 digs. She had another 15 digs in a win over NVU-Johnson. She also tacked on seven service aces on the week.
