Player of the Week


Liv Sowles (Sr., OH/OPP), Southern Vermont College

Senior Liv Sowles (Sacramento, Calif.) continued her impressive senior season last week, as she helped Southern Vermont go 2-1, and notch its most wins since 2012. She registered 5.10 kills and 3.3 digs per set, and tallied a double-double in each of the three matches. The senior had 24 kills on Saturday at Mitchell for a career-best in a three-set contest. The 24 kills was also more than any NCAA Division III player had recorded in a three-game match this season. Against the Mariners, Sowles had only five attacking errors on 43 swings to chalk up a .442 hitting percentage.  


Rookie of the Week


Ruth Aguilar (Fr., S), Eastern Nazarene College  

Freshman Ruth Aguilar (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) had another a strong week for the Lions, as they went 3-0, including an NECC victory over Becker. The freshman setter posted a double-double against non-conference opponent Curry, tallying 14 kills and 23 assists, while also adding 9 digs in the win. She followed up that performance with a triple-double in the win over Becker, with 12 kills, 11 assists and 12 digs. On the week, the rookie posted 3.71 kills per set, 5.57 assists per set and 3.29 digs per set.
