Daniel Webster's Koehler Named NECC Women's Volleyball Player of the Year

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Daniel Webster’s Hannah Koehler takes the highest honor for the NECC Women’s Volleyball Conference Awards.

Koehler led the Eagles to the NECC Championship match after an incredible junior season. The middle blocker led the conference with a stellar hitting percentage of .395 in NECC play, while averaging 4.28 kills per set which ranked second. The Eagles were led by first year head coach Karen McNulty, who earned Coach of the Year by a vote of her peers.

Defensive Player of the year honors went to Newbury College junior Julia Leggett. The Nighthawk libero finished first in conference play averaging 4.89 digs per set. Leggett was a vital force as the Nighthawks earned a spot in the NECC Semifinals this season 

For the NCAA bound Pride, Katryna Veasey earned Rookie of the Year and First Team honors. Regis College will take their third trip in as many years to the NCAA tournament after winning the NECC title. The freshman finished fourth with 245 kills for the season and eighth with 2.43 kills per set.

Joining Leggett with NECC All Conference First Team Honors was the reigning NECC Player of the year, senior Courtney Banks. The middle hitter finished landed atop the conference statistics with 119 kills in conference play, whiling averaging 4.41 per set.

Lesley University placed juniors Kaylee Deluga and Anni Abbruzzese on the NECC All Conference First Team. Deluga had a strong season for the Lynx, finishing third in kills per set (3.76) and service aces (20) in conference play.  Abbruzzese shared the offensive responsibility finishing in fifth with 3.14 kills per set.
