NEC Advances to Women's Soccer Semifinals with 5-0 Win over Bay Path

HENNIKER, N.H. - The second seeded New England College women's soccer team eliminated the seventh seeded, Bay Path University, in the quarterfinals of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) playoff tournament.

The Pilgrims will improve to 12-7-2 overall with a 7-1-1 record in the NECC. Bay Path with see their season come to a close with a 7-8-1 record overall and a 3-6 record in the NECC.

Michaela Pomeroy (Thetford, Vt.) got the Pilgrims on the board first in just the fifth minute of the contest. Tara Bainbridge (South Hadley, Mass.) and Delaney Dupuis (Rochester, N.H.) worked the ball down the left side of the field which allowed Pomeroy to make a run and give the Pilgrims the lead. Dupuis just under three minutes later extended the Pilgrim lead when she fired a shot to the right side of the goal that beat the Wildcat goalkeeper.
Emily LePage (West Greenwich, R.I.) then earned her first of three goals. Pomeroy set a ball towards the goal, right where LePage was waiting to strike. The senior duo connected again just over a minute later for LePage's second of the contest. LePage then sent home a header on a rebound from a shot to complete the hat trick in just under 15 minutes.

Kayla Pugliese (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) made two saves on two shots on goal in the complete game shutout. Caitlyn Esposito made 13 saves on 18 shots on goal for the Wildcats.

The Pilgrims will host the sixth seeded Becker College on Wednesday evening. The winner of that contest will earn the opportunity to play in the NECC championship game.
