SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Year Brittany Stone (West Bridgewater, Mass.) added to her list of accomplishments this season, named to the NEWBA All-Region Second Team announced Tuesday by the New England Women's Basketball Association.
The honor was her third NEWBA award this season. She was a three-time selection to the NEWBA weekly honor roll which included a player of the week nod. She averaged a double double over three games that week which also netted her NECC player of the week honors.
Stone followed up her sophomore campaign with another stellar year as the Pride's dominant frontcourt threat. Her NECC Player of the Year honor came after averaging just under a double-double with 18.7 points per game on 64.9% shooting to go with 9.9 rebounds per game. Stone helped lead the Pride to its fifth straight NECC title this season which included a first-team all-league selection.
The West Bridgewater, Mass. native was a large part of the Pride's explosive offense this season, which led the NECC with 76.4 points per game. Her performance in leading the Pride to the NECC championship landed her the title of NECC Tournament Most Valuable Player. The season also saw her score her 1,000th point for Regis in a January win over Bay Path.
