For the second consecutive season, Daniel Webster senior forward Alycia Gervais was honored as the 2011-12 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Womens' Basketball Player of the Year in a vote by the league's coaches. Gervais averaged 15.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per game while shooting 45.5% from the field and 82% from the free throw line.

Senior guard Kendra Bannister (Washington, D.C.) led four Nighthawks in double figures registering her third double-double of the season, netting 14 points while ripping down 11 boards en route to the victory.

Regis College senior Stephanie Crawford scored 16 points to go with four rebounds and three assists as the Pride celebrated their annual Senior Day with a 64-40 victory over visiting Elms College on Saturday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference women’s basketball action. The Pride improves to an unblemished 17-0 mark in the NECC, while moving to 20-4 overall this year and all but wrapping up the top seed in the upcoming NECC postseason. Elms drops to 16-7 overall and 13-3 in league play with the setback.

The Pride, who earned 93 points and seven first place votes, return all five starters from last year's 16-12 team and will be led by senior guard Steph Crawford who enters the season with 928 points.

Recent 2011 Newbury College graduate, Amy Chen (Chelmsford, Mass.), was recognized as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC)’s honoree for this year’s NCAA Woman of the Year Award. The award honors outstanding female student-athletes who have shown great leadership and have excelled in all three phases of college life: academics, athletics and the college community.
