Gates, Torres and Mangiaratt Share Weekly Softball Awards

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Bay Path College senior shortstop Sarah Gates (Crown Point, Ind.) batted .571 (12-for-21) while leading the Wildcats to a 3-3 week.  Gates had two doubles, six runs and seven RBI’s.  She slugged .667, fielded .944 and had a .571 on-base percentage. She also went 5-for-5 in stolen bases.

 

 

 

 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Mitchell College sophomore Kristina Torres (Groton, Conn.) hurled five innings in a 12-2 victory over Lyndon State in the Mariners home opener. She allowed only two runs, both unearned, on four hits. Torres fanned five and walked only one batter picking up her first win on the season.

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Lesley University freshman outfielder Emily Mangiaratti (Amherst, Mass.) led the Lynx to a 2-0 sweep of Regis winning the opener 6-3 and the nightcap 7-5. Mangiaratti reached base five times of her eight at bats. She slugged one triple for a .625 batting average, .875 slugging percent and .625 on-base percentage. Mangiaratti had a perfect fielding percentage.
