NECC Men's Volleyball Athletes of the Week- January 27

Player of the Week

 

Jeremy Torres (Jr., OH), Elms College

Junior Jeremy Torres (Juncos, P.R.) totaled 100 kills, 43 digs, eight total blocks, four service aces and four assists in the Blazers’ first five matches of the season. He posted two double-doubles against two nationally ranked opponents, tallying 27 kills and 11 digs in a setback to No. 3 Stevens and 30 kills and 14 digs against No. 10 Arcadia. On the week, he averaged 5.26 kills per set and 2.26 digs per set.

 

Rookie of the Week

                     

Delfy Soler (Fr., OH), Eastern Nazarene College

Freshman Delfy Soler (Lawrence, Mass.) amassed 76 kills, 32 digs, eight total blocks, eight assists, and seven service aces in his first five collegiate matches. Soler notched 20 kills and five digs as Eastern Nazarene downed St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 3-0 in the season-opener. The rookie collected 13 kills, eight digs, and three blocks as the Lions topped John Jay 3-1. Soler posted five kills and three digs in a 3-0 setback to nationally-ranked Rivier. Soler registered his first collegiate double-double with 18 kills and 11 digs as Eastern Nazarene fell at Emmanuel in five sets. Soler racked up 20 kills, five digs, three assists, and three blocks in the Lions' 3-1 victory over Colby-Sawyer.
