MARSHFIELD, Mass - With the conclusion of the 2019 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's volleyball regular season this afternoon the conference has released the parings for the upcoming tournament. Claiming the top seed with a 13-1 conference record is Elms who enters the postseason under the guidance of head coach Sheila Gisbrecht. The Blazers earn a first round bye and will look to sophomores Jeremy Torres and Jovanny Torres who are currently No. 1 and No. 2 in the NECC in kills and kills per set. Elms will host a semifinal match on Thursday, April 11th.

Also earning a first round bye with hosting rights in Thursdays semifinal round is No. 2 Endicott who also finished the regular season at 13-1 in conference play. The Gulls will look to junior Bryn Lipton who leads the conference in hitting percentage and senior Jacob Newman who is No. 1 in blocks per set. In order to break the tie between the Blazers and the Gulls the NECC tiebreakder 'comparison of results against non-conference common opponents' was conducted with Elms prevailing.

Sitting at No. 3 is Nichols (10-4) who will host No. 6 Dean (3-11) in the opening round on Tuesday, April 9th while No. 4 Eastern Nazarene (8-6) will host No. 5 Newbury (6-8) the opening night. NECC tiebreaking procedures were also necessary to break the sixth place tie between Dean and Southern Vermont utilizing 'in-division strength of schedule' which gave the Bulldogs the final spot in the tournament. The winner of Nichols vs. Dean will travel to No. 2 Endicott in semifinal action while the winner of Eastern Nazarene and Newbury will travel to top seed Elms on Thursday, April 11th.

The semifinal winners will then compete for the crown on Saturday, April 13th at the highest remaining seed.
