Regis' Harrow, Montealegre, and Ciarleglio Sweep the NECC Major Tennis Awards

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Regis College’s junior Chris Harrow repeats as the NECC Men’s Tennis Player of the Year.

Chris Harrow helped lead the Pride to an undefeated regular season in the NECC earning six doubles victories and three singles wins all playing at the No. 1 position. The junior also earned first team honors for his pairing with rookie standout Gabriel Montealegre.

Montealegre’s topped an impressive season with NECC Rookie of the Year accolades. The native of Nicaragua finished his first season with the Pride winning all of his matches at No. 1 singles and doubles throughout 2016-17 campaign. The duo helped the Pride win their fifth straight NECC Title, while earning coach John Ciarleglio Coach of the Year, as voted on by his peers. Also earning first team accolades in singles action for the Pride was sophomore Cam Charbonneau, who split time between No. 3 and No. 4 singles this season, finishing a perfect 6-0 in NECC play.

The final two spots on the NECC first team for singles included Wheelock College sophomore Arvin Hedayaty and Becker College senior Aaron Peterson. The reigning NECC Rookie of the Year, Hedayaty finished a strong campaign for the Wildcats as his only loss came at the hand of Regis’ top player. The sophomore teamed up with senior Matt Brown to earn All-NECC Doubles honors as well.

Peterson helped lead the Hawks to second in the conference regular season and back to back appearances in the NECC Championship Match.
