New England College Men's Basketball Appears in Regional Poll

HENNIKER, N.H. – For the first time in program history, the New England College men's basketball team appeared in the Division III Men's Basketball Northeast Regional Poll.

This is the second public NCAA Division III regional rankings were released on Feb. 19. They are the middle of three sets which we will see before the selections are made and announced on Monday, March 2. There is also one final set of regional rankings, which is released after the tournament bracket is revealed. This set of regional rankings uses the Feb. 12 rankings to determine which teams count as "results against regionally ranked opponents."

The Pilgrims currently sitting at 18-6 overall and 9-2 in New England Collegiate Conference action. New England College in currently 2-2 against Regionally-Ranked teams. NEC defeated WPI (78-73) and Tufts University (59-56), despite losing to Middlebury and Colby College.


The NECC began competition in the 2008-09 academic year and current member institutions compete across 15 sports. The NECC membership focuses on providing athletic competition among institutions that share similar academic aspirations and are committed to the importance of the total educational experience for students engaged in sports. Current members include Bay Path University, Becker College, Dean College, Eastern Nazarene College, Elms College, Lesley University, Mitchell College and New England College.
