NECC Field Hockey Athletes of the Week- October 7

Offensive Player of the Week

Robin Boot, (Sr., M),  Manhattanville College

Senior Robin Boot (Bedum, Netherlands) was an asset to the Valiants last week, totaling six points in three games. She scored the game-winning-goals in both NECC match-ups against Elms and Thomas. On Wednesday, Boot received a pass off a penalty corner, passed to a teammate in the circle and assisted the first goal of the game for the Valiants. On Saturday against Elms, Boot was outside of the circle, weaved through her defenders and scored the first and winning goal for Manhattanville. In the Thomas game on Sunday, Boot assisted the first goal after receiving a penalty corner pass. She scored the game-winning-goal in the third quarter after she intercepted the ball around midfield. She continued to dribble into the circle and secured the final goal.

Defensive Player of the Week

Allie Gregoire (Jr., B),  Thomas College

Junior Allie Gregoire (Kennebunk, Maine) led a Thomas defense that allowed one goal per game in a 2-1 week. She aided the Terriers to a shutout win over UMaine-Farmington on Wednesday where the Beavers managed only two shots on goal and six penalty corners. Her defense followed that up by allowing just one goal on six shots on goal and seven penalty corners to Becker in a win on Saturday. Gregoire and the Terriers held a potent Manhattanville offense to just two goals and seven shots on goal in a loss on Sunday. Gregoire also tallied four assists and a goal on the week, collecting at least one point each game.

 Rookie of the Week

Ava Panzer (Fr., M),  Manhattanville College

Freshman Ava Panzer (Pawling, N.Y.) tallied a pair of goals in two games, one being the game-winner on Wednesday against Ramapo. Panzer passed a penalty corner in when a teammate drove the ball on net and she deflected the ball past Ramapo’s defense. An almost identical play happened on Saturday against Elms as Panzer ran to the far post when the ball was passed in on a corner, and deflected a drive from her teammate into the back of the cage.
