NECC Field Hockey Athletes of the Week- October 28

Offensive Player of the Week  

 

Carissa Ramirez (Jr., M), Elms College

Junior Carissa Ramirez (San Diego, Calif.) totaled nine points in a 1-1 week for the Blazers. Ramirez posted a hat trick in an 11-0 win over Dean, while also adding an assist. In an overtime loss to UMaine Farmington, the junior netted the lone goal for Elms. 

 

Defensive Player of the Week

 

Zoe Fillebrown (So., GK), Manhattanville

Sophomore Zoe Fillebrown (Nashua, N.H.) started both games for the Valiants this past week, both NECC victories, tallying 10 saves and only allowing one goal. She began with five saves in a 3-1 win at NEC on Saturday, followed by a five-save shutout in a double overtime 1-0 win at Husson on Sunday.

 

Rookie of the Week

 

Alex Bessey, (Jr., F), UMaine-Farmington

Junior Alex Bessey (Jay, Maine) scored two goals this week against Elms College to close out the Beavers regular season with a total of four points. Bessey broke a 0-0 tie 10 minutes into the second half, netting her first goal of the game. She then scored her second goal of the game early into the overtime period to give the Beavers the win.
