NECC Field Hockey Athletes of the Week- October 21

Offensive Player of the Week  

Emily Iacovelli (So., F), Becker College

Sophomore Emily Iacovelli (Northbridge, Mass.) had a program-record smashing week for Becker with seven goals and two assists in three matches this week. On Tuesday's victory over Dean, Iacovelli finished with a program-record seven goals and 15 points. Iacovelli 15-point outburst is the third-most points a player has scored in a game in NCAA Division III history and the seven goals will rank second all-time in a Division III match.

 

Defensive Player of the Week

 

Haley Thebarge (Jr., B), Thomas College

Senior Haley Thebarge (Smithfield, Maine) led a Thomas defense that allowed two goals in two games, as the Terriers went undefeated on the week. She had a defensive save, while the defense allowed one goal in a 2-1 overtime victory over Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday. The Terriers then allowed just five shots on goal and three penalty corners to conference foe Elms on Saturday, where Thebarge also picked up two assists.

   

Rookie of the Week

Makenna Platte (Fr., F),  New England College

Freshman Makenna Platte (Manchester, N.H.) scored the opening goal in a 4-2 win over UMaine Farmington. Earlier in the week she assisted in the game-winning goal in a 3-2 win at Elms College.
