• Bay Path Awarded by NFHCA for Team and Eight Players Named to National Academic Squad

    LONGMEADOW, Mass.-The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2010-11 academic year. This year, eight of student-athletes on Bay Path's Field Hockey Team were named to the National Academic Squad. They include: Seniors Kim Barbato (Saylorsburg, PA), Sarah Gates (Crown Point, IN), and Jessica Priestly (Middleboro, MA); sophomores Elizabeth Barclay (Auburn, ME) and Deanna Flagg (Enfield, CT); and freshmen Anna Bankowski (Granville, NY), Ruth Choate (Lewiston, ME), and Stephanie Belsen (Windsor Locks, CT).

    BOSTON, Mass. - Eleven Wheelock College field hockey players have qualified for the 2010 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad thanks to a strong showing in the classroom, while the program earned an NFHCA National Academic Team Award.
  • Sirchia Earns All Region Honors

    LEICESTER, Mass.- The honors keep piling up for Becker field hockey player Victoria Sirchia Goshen, Conn.). After recently being name the 2010 New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Year and First Team All NECC, Sirchia was selected to the NFHCA All Region Team. During her three seasons at Becker College Sirchia has tallied 40 goals and 15 assists. Seven of Victoria’s 40 goals were game winning goals. In previous seasons Sirchia has been named First Team All NECC three times, NECC Rookie of the Year, two time NECC Player of the Year and has won two NECC Championships.

    NASHUA, N.H. - Sophomore defender Samantha Cotoni (Groton, Mass.) flicked home a penalty stroke at the 48-minute mark of Saturday's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship at Harvey Woods Field and the goal held up as the eventual game-winner giving top-seeded Daniel Webster College its first NECC tournament championship with a 1-0 victory over second-seeded and two-time defending tournament champion Becker College Saturday at Harvey Woods Field.

    ATTLEBORO, Mass.-Elms College sophomore goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, Mass) tallied 26 saves on the week. The Blazers went 0-2 falling 7-0 to WNEC where Bonavita finished with 19 saves and lost 1-0 to NECC rival Bay Path with seven saves. Bonavita is now third on Elms all-time saves list.

    ATTLEBORO, Mass.- Wheelock College sophomore forward Despina Savvoulides (Norwalk, Conn.) led the Wildcats to two key NECC victories, including a 2-1 victory over two-time defending conference champions Becker in overtime action and a 3-1 win over Elms. Savvoulides netted the game winner in the 97th minute of play over Becker. For the week, she had two goals for four points.

    ATTLEBORO, Mass.-For the second straight week, Daniel Webster College junior forward Natalie Bates (Kingstown, R.I.) produced two game winners in a 2-0 conference week. Bates helped the Eagles solve top ranked Becker College in a 3-1 victory, where she netted two goals. She came back to tally two more goals in a 3-0 shutout of Bay Path. Bates finished the week with four goals and eight points.

    ATTLEBORO, Mass.-Daniel Webster College junior forward Natalie Bates (Kingstown, R.I.) played a role in all three games for the Eagles helping them to a 2-1 week. Bates tallied one goal and one assist in a 6-3 loss to Salve Regina, while notching two goals and two assists in a 5-1 romp of Rivier. She also had the assist in a 1-0 victory over Wheelock in NECC play. For the week, she tallied three goals, four assists totaling ten points.

    ATTLEBORO, Mass.-Wheelock College sophomore forward Despina Savvoulides (Norwalk, Conn.) converted a penalty stroke in the last eight minutes of play tying the game. This would be the first time the Wildcats defeated Simmons in over nine years with a 3-2 outcome in overtime. She also managed an assist in the 42nd minute of play to help knot the game finishing with three points.

    ATTLEBORO, Mass.-Elms College sophomore goalkeeper Jenna Lipscomb (Cambridge, Mass.) tallied 26 saves for the Blazers despite a tough 0-2 week. Normally a midfielder/forward, Lipscomb debuted in goal against Smith. She faced 52 shots, 34 of which were on goal for her 70:00 minutes in goal. Elms fell 7-0 to Smith and 2-0 to Rivier.

    ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Anna Maria College and Endicott College officially became associate members of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC), it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. Both Anna Maria and Endicott are currently full members of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).
