MANSFIELD, MASS.- The first-ever New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Madden Xbox Championship will take place this Saturday night as Becker’s Jordan Hazelwood will square off against Dean’s Ki’Sean Bullard in the best two-of-three series. The tournament, which began in April with 24 participants, is down to just two with Jordan and Ki having impressed throughout.
Hazelwood, a senior member of both the baseball and football programs at Becker, has rolled to the championship finals outscoring his opponents by a composite score of 189-10 in his four impressive wins thus far. The New Jersey native dominated in his Semifinal series win, outscoring his opponent 103-0. Bullard, a sophomore member of the football team at Dean, has had a slightly tougher road to the championship finals. The Miami native punched his ticket to the title matchup with a 2-1 series win over Eastern Nazarene’s Joshua Bombard in the Semifinals.
The winner of Saturday’s championship matchup will not only be crowned NECC champion, but will also receive a championship trophy and commemorative championship shirt recognizing their accomplishment. The NECC is planning on streaming the championship final series with details to come as they are available.
ABOUT THE NECC
The NECC began competition in the 2008-09 academic year and current member institutions compete across 16 sports. The NECC membership focuses on providing athletic competition among institutions that share similar academic aspirations and are committed to the importance of the total educational experience for students engaged in sports. Current members include Bay Path University, Becker College, Dean College, Eastern Nazarene College, Elms College, Lesley University, Mitchell College and New England College.
