Player of the Week

 

Nathan Ayala (Jr., C),  Elms College

Junior Nathan Ayala (Springfield, Mass.) led Elms to two close wins, batting .444 with four RBI, a home run and a double. Ayala went 3-for-5 with a home run, as the Blazers topped Clark, 5-4. He then knocked in two runs with a double, as Elms beat Western New England, 5-4.  

 

Pitcher of the Week

 

Daniel Rivera (Sr., P),  Eastern Nazarene College

Senior Daniel Rivera (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) hurled a complete-game shutout to propel the Lions to a 2-0 victory over Wentworth in game two of the team's season-opening doubleheader. He racked up a career-high 13 strikeouts while surrendering zero walks and just three singles. He also picked up a save, pitching one inning, and striking out two, as the Lions topped Manhattanville 10-8. Over the course of three games, Rivera pitched 10.1 innings, striking out 20.

 

Rookie of the Week

 

Michael Ciccotelli (Fr., OF), New England College

Freshman Michael Ciccotelli (Rochester, N.Y) helped the Pilgrims to a 2-1 week, batting .375 with three RBI. Ciccotelli had a hit and an RBI as NEC knocked off Emerson, 7-5. Then, in a 21-3 offensive onslaught over John Jay, the rookie went 2-for-3, with a double and two RBI.
