NECC Releases 2019 Baseball Tournament Bracket, Mitchell Earns Top Seed

MARSHFIELD, Mass. - The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced the seeds for the 2019 Baseball Championship on Monday evening following the concluson of the regular season. After posting an impressive 15-1 league record, Mitchell has claimed the No. 1 seed earning hosting rights this week. The Mariners will look to first year, Dougie DelaCruz who is tied for the league leader in runs batted and pitcher Ryan Solimine who is second in the league in strikeouts.

Sitting at No. 2 is New England College who also earns hosting rights this week after finishing with a 10-6 NECC record. The Pilgrims will look to pitcher Shayne Audet who is the current league leader in strikeouts while sitting second in earned run average. Claiming the No. 3 seed is Lesley (8-8) who will host No. 6 Becker (7-9) on Tuesday while No. 4 Eastern Nazarene (8-8) hosts Southern Vermont (8-8). NECC tiebreaking procedure 'best record among tied teams' was utilized to break the three-way tie between Lesley, Eastern Nazarene and Southern Vermont.

The winner of Eastern Nazarene versus Southern Vermont will take on Mitchell on Thursday, while the winner of Lesley verus Becker will take on New England College.

The opening round begins on Tuesday, April 30th for a single elimination stage. Double elimination play then begins on Thursday, May 2nd the No. 1 and No. 2 sites. On Saturday, May 4th Mitchell will host games five through seven followed by game eight on Sunday with an if necessary game nine.
