    NASHUA, N.H. – Needing a win in the final day of a weather-shortened double-elimination tournament, top-seeded Daniel Webster rallied from an early day 8-6 loss to second-seeded Mitchell College rebounding to eliminate third-seeded Becker College 7-5, and then top Mitchell in the nightcap, 12-1 and earn a share of the title with the Mariners Sunday at Harvey Woods Field.

    NASHUA, N.H. – Junior Bruce Brown (Lowell, Mass.) connected for two two-run homers and knocked in four leading host and tournament top seed Daniel Webster past fourth-seeded Southern Vermont, 12-5 in the opening game of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) tournament championship series Friday afternoon at Harvey Woods Field. he win gave the Eagles (19-15) a 10:00 a.m. date with second-seeded Mitchell College (16-12), 6-5 winners of third-seeded Becker in the day’s second contest. Becker (14-17) stayed alive with a 5-4 victory over Southern Vermont in the nightcap, eliminating the Mountaineers.

    Perillo, Chapman, Marstaller and Pyne Earn NECC Top Awards ATTLEBORO, Mass. – All six sponsored programs were represented on 2010 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Baseball All-Conference Team, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. In addition to the All-NECC honors, four separate major individual award winners and the team sportsmanship award were also voted upon and selected this week.

    NASHUA, N.H.-Due to the weather forecast for the Nashua area for Saturday, May 8th of 80% chance of rain. The decision has been made to adjust the tournament schedule by one day. The 2010 New England Collegiate Conference Championships will begin on Friday, May 7th with game one beginning at a 10:00 a.m. first pitch.

The Eagles (18-14 overall) earned the top spot in the upcoming NECC tournament after posting an 11-4 conference record.

    ATTLEBORO, Mass.-Mitchell College junior infielder Jeff Perillo (Newington, Conn.) led the Mariners to a 3-1 week. Perillo batted .500 (7-for-14), slugged.643 and had a .533 on-base percentage while finishing with a .917 fielding percentage. He notched three runs and one RBI. Perillo had two multiple hit games including going 4-for-5 against Becker.
  • Elms and Mitchell Share Weekly Baseball Honors

    ATTLEBORO, Mass.-Elms College junior infielder Brendan Cordeiro (Berkeley, Mass.) led the Blazers to a 3-3 week hitting safely in all six contests. Cordeiro batted .538 (14-for-26), slugged.808 and had a .586 on-base percentage while finishing with a .846 fielding percentage. He notched six RBI, five doubles, three stolen bases and one triple. Cordeiro managed four multiple hit games including going 4-for-5 in a 9-3 victory over Southern Vermont.
  • Andrews, Chapman and Fisher Earn NECC Baseball Weekly Honors

    ATTLEBORO, Mass.-Elms College senior infielder Mike Andrews (Lowell, Mass.) had a hot bat in a 1-1 week for the Blazers notching two multiple hit contests. Andrews batted .714 (5-for-7), slugged 1.571 and had a .800 on-base percentage while allowing no errors. He improved to a six game hitting streak, while tallying six RBI and three runs. Andrews also went 3-for-3 in stolen bases.

    ATTLEBORO, Mass.-Daniel Webster College junior infielder Bruce Brown (Lowell, Mass.) led the Eagles to a perfect 5-0 week including a conference sweep of Newbury going 10-2, 6-3 and 14-10. The Eagles also defeated Norwich 10-2 and Emerson 12-5 en route to a Daniel Webster record for most wins at 10 in a single season. Brown batted a solid .588 (10-for-17) with four multiple hit games. He had two doubles, one triple and two homeruns. Brown also notched ten runs and seven RBI, while going a perfect 8-for-8 in stolen bases. For the week, Brown slugged 1.176 and finished with a .650 on-base percentage.
  • Cantor, Franchi, Cornwell, Kilgore Share Baseball Weekly Honors

    ATTLEBORO, Mass.-Daniel Webster College junior outfielder Zach Cantor (Windham, Maine.) led the Eagles to a 2-1 conference series over Becker going 14-3, 6-5 and 1-3. In game two of the three game series, he went 3-for-3 with two RBI including two doubles. Cantor batted .714 while posting a 1.143 slugging percentage. He had two RBI and five hits, hitting safely in all three games. He had three doubles and four free trips to first base. Cantor also notched two stolen bases.

    ATTLEBORO, Mass.-For the second straight week, Mitchell College junior infielder Jeff Perillo (Newington, Conn.) led the Mariners to a 2-0 week defeating Lyndon State 9-0 and 7-2. Perillo batted .571 while slugging a 1.000 percentage. He had five RBI and four hits including one double and one triple.

    ATTLEBORO, Mass.-Mitchell College junior infielder Jeff Perillo (Newington, Conn.) led the Mariners to a split against Manhattanville falling 10-18 in the opener and winning 13-12 in the nightcap. Perillo batted .625 while slugging a 1.500 percentage. He had five RBI and four hits including two doubles, one triple and one home run going 3-for-4 in the first game and 2-4 in the closer.

    ATTLEBORO, Mass.- Elms College senior infielder Mike Andrews (Greenfield, Mass.) had a stellar opening week for the Blazers, hitting safely in all seven contests including three multiple hit games. In an extra inning 13-12 win over Olivet, Andrews went three-for-four with two RBI and one homer. He batted .458 (11-for-24) with nine RBI, five runs and two doubles. Andrews finished the 4-5 week with a .667 slugging percentage, .682 on-base percentage and a .987 fielding percentage.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University Athletic Department has responded to the success of their teams and growth of their student-athlete body population by sponsoring their sixth sport on the men's side by adding men's baseball to begin play for the 2010-2011 season. The addition of one of the region's and nation's most historic games will bring Lesley's varsity sports total to 12, six men's and six women's programs
