INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Three New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) fall sport team champions will compete in NCAA First Round action this weekend, while men’s and women’s cross country will compete in NCAA Regionals.
In men’s soccer, Newbury College will travel to Cortland, N.Y., to take on SUNY Cortland at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The Nighthawks won their first NECC title with a 1-0 overtime win over Mitchell on November 8. SUNY Cortland, out of the SUNYAC, got an at-large bid to the tournament. Saturday’s winner will take on the winner of Williams and Elizabethtown on Sunday.
In women’s soccer, Lesley University will take on host Amherst College at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lesley earned an NCAA bid via their second-straight NECC title, while Amherst earned an at-large berth. The winner of that game will play the winner of MIT and Vassar on Sunday.
Southern Vermont College, the NECC women’s volleyball champion, will head to Ithaca College to take on the host Bombers on Friday night at 8 p.m. Ithaca was also an at-large selection. The winner of that match will take on the winner of Hunter and Stevenson on Saturday.
Finally, Elms College, Lesley University, New England College and Newbury College men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the NCAA Division III New England Regional on Saturday, November 10, hosted by Bowdoin College. The women will race at 11:00 a.m., followed by the men at 12:00 p.m. The top two teams will qualify for nationals, while the top seven individuals will also qualify.
