NECC Seeking Applicants for Student-Specialist Position

MANSFIELD, MASS.- The NECC is pleased to announce that the league has been approved by the NCAA for a paid internship position at the NECC through the association’s diversity grant efforts. 

The successful candidate must be a current undergraduate female and/or ethnic minority student at one of our member institutions. There is a $2,500 stipend for the successful candidate.

NECC Student Specialist - Job Description 2019-2020 Academic Year

The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Office is seeking highly motivated currently enrolled undergraduate students who are interested in gaining experience in multimedia athletic communications, sports marketing, social media, graphic design, strategic planning, and athletic administration. Students with strong written, verbal, and social media communication skills, and are dependable and can easily work independently and as a member of team are encouraged to apply.

The NECC will use NCAA diversity grant funding to create this part-time paid internship position to provide a woman and/or ethnic minority with opportunities for creativity and growth within the ever- evolving landscape of college athletics. This internship aspires to honor the efforts of the Division III Diversity and Inclusion Working Group by increasing ethnic and racial diversity and gender equity in college sports hiring practices. This position will enhance the foundation of a diverse and inclusive culture within the Division III conference office environment.

Under the direct supervision of NECC Commissioner Jacob VanRyn and Assistant Commissioner Lindsay Colbert, this position will assist with the promotion of the NECC, it's eight athletic departments, and its student-athletes by helping with the coordination of our promotional and management efforts to enhance the league.

This position includes a $2,500 stipend (no other benefits) provided through the NCAA Division III Diversity grant funding program.

The successful candidate must be a current undergraduate female and/or ethnic minority student at one of the NECC's member institutions.

The Student Specialist will assist with: 

-Promotion / publicity of the conference across its membership and championship events

-Social media, videography, photography for various NECC Championship and SAAC events

-Creating unique content for the conference’s website and social media channels

-Potential event planning responsibilities

-Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications

-Be working towards obtaining a bachelor's degree

-Ability to complete task-based responsibilities remotely

-Time management skills

-Highly motivated and energetic with attention to detail and accuracy

-Proficient with social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, etc.)

-Experience with photography and desktop video editing software is a plus
