The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) will celebrate the diversity of its member institutions over the course of the month of February, which also serves as Black History Month. The NECC is committed to diversity, inclusion and gender equality, and is pleased to shine a spotlight on its members, which are among the most diverse institutions of higher education, both regionally and nationally.
The NECC is home to eight institutions: Bay Path University, Becker College, Dean College, Eastern Nazarene College, Elms College, Lesley University, Mitchell College, and New England College. According to collegefactual.com, five NECC members are within the top 50 percent of the most diverse colleges or universities in the nation, based on ethnic, geographic and male to female diversity. Eastern Nazarene, Dean, and New England College also fall within the top 25 percent nationwide.
Diversity and inclusion are core values of the NCAA, which “seeks to establish and maintain an inclusive culture that fosters equitable participation for student-athletes and career opportunities for coaches and administrators from diverse backgrounds. Diversity and inclusion improve the learning environment for all student-athletes.” Each NECC institution encourages diversity and inclusion in their own unique way, which the conference will explore in an upcoming feature video. The video will showcase student-athletes from around the NECC as they reflect on their experiences with diversity and inclusion on their respective campuses.
The NECC will also honor the diversity of its eight members through a “Did You Know?” social media campaign, as each of the schools will be highlighted with a series of diversity facts which will be posted on the NECC’s social media platforms. The campaign will feature each school on their own respective date, as follows:

NECC Commissioner Jacob VanRyn is looking forward to showcasing one of the league’s strengths. “We’re excited to promote and share one of the true hallmarks of the NECC- diversity,” said VanRyn. “We are truly proud of the diverse make-up of our institutions and we are also proud to celebrate it.”
